2011 Ferrari 599 GTO

2011 Ferrari 599 GTO. If you’re talking about Ferrari, then you talk about speed and luxury. Ferrari 599 GTO proves the reliability of the Italian manufacturer is concocting a reliable sports car, well this is Ferrari, an expert on racing cars.

The 2011 599 GTO represents the pinnacle (so far) from Ferrari, as the company's fastest road car ever built. As the name suggests, the 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO is based on the 599 GTB Fiorano, which produces a not-so-paltry 612 hp. The GTO also takes a few playbook pages from the 599--, Ferrari's rare racetrack-only variant. Further complicating a 599 GTO acquisition is its estimated cost of $750,000. Ouch.
With the new 599 GTO, Ferrari resurrects one if its most revered model designations and delivers the fastest road-legal Ferrari ever built.

The 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO is everything the world expects from Ferrari: sexy, gorgeous, technology intensive, incredibly powerful and, of course, very expensive. The 29-copy 599xxx is in turn developed from the 599 GTB Fiorano, which is the fastest grand-touring car in Ferrari's current line-up.

The GTO in 599 GTO stands for Gran Turismo Omologata, a label Ferrari has used twice before in its 60-year history. The original 250 GTO ruled GT racing in the early 1960s and firmly established Ferrari as the world's premier sports car builder. Today, 250 GTOs command millions in the collector car market. The road-going 1984 Ferrari GTO, sometimes called the 288 GTO, the second Ferrari to bear the designation, was designed for Group B road racing which never got off the ground and it became a progenitor of the modern, mega-horsepower supercar.

The 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO is large as sports cars go. The body helps maximize engine and brake cooling for track use. The GTO's 20-inch forged wheels are ultra-light, and its wheel nuts are titanium. The GTO applies Ferrari's classic front mid-engine design, as opposed to the rear mid-engine design typically used for smaller Ferraris. The GTO V12 displaces 6.0 liters and delivers nearly 661 horsepower at an amazing 8250 rpm (with 457 pound-feet of torque). The six-speed auto-clutch transmission takes its electro-hydraulic controls from Ferrari's Formula One racing gearboxes. Inside, the Ferrari 599 GTO is an amalgamation of bespoke leather panels, carbon-fiber seats and race-car style switches. This electronic system monitors the car's performance parameters and delivers feedback to the driver. The 599 GTO goes from 0 to 60 mph in a hair over three seconds, according to Ferrari. Top speed is published at 208 mph, and the GTO has lapped Ferrari's Fiorano test track more than a second quicker than any street-legal Ferrari model before it.
